I began accepting beginner or intermediate piano students 3 years ago when I realized that the North Country had very few piano teachers to whom I could send my voice and Alexander students.
My own training as a pianist began early, but my most important teacher was Mathilde McKinney, herself a student of Rosinna Llevine at The Juilliard School. While voice has always been my primary instrument, I focus on imparting excellent basics – good posture, hand, wrist, arm, and finger freedom and mobility, the basics of notation and theory, and phrasing and musicality.
I am happy to accept children or adults as students. I do not advise starting piano lessons much before the age of 5 for most children.
